After about two months since opening this website to the public, and creating art in my free time, I can happily say that I am in the best place I've been in awhile. I am not currently working, so making art is my full time job, and what they say is true; when you love what you do, you don't work a day in your life. It sounds cliché, but I'm experiencing it first hand. When I first moved to Concord, NH with my best friend and love of my life, I thought I could take some time for myself and once we were settled in, I would be able to find a 9-5 job in no time. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Even now I find myself applying to several jobs everyday and only hearing back "sorry, you're not the one we're looking for." After awhile, it can seriously take a toll on your self-esteem and you start to ask yourself, "Am I enough?" And if it weren't for my amazing family and stepping back into my art, that question may have taken me to a dark place, and I can't be sure where I'd be today without them both.
I am so incredibly lucky to have such a loving support system, who supports me 100% for making art my life. And in a way, I can thank this experience of being unemployed for bringing serious art into my life and brightening my view of the world. I have always had a love for art, and have always tried to find time for it, but adult life can be consuming and if you're not careful, it can slowly take the color out of your spirit. With this experience, my soul and my life is more colorful than ever. And with so much color in my life, I'm happy to share it everyday by showing my art to the world. I am so thankful for having art back in my life, and discovering myself through my work. Art to me is more than a job, even more than a career. Art is my life, my therapy, my breath of fresh air. With art in my life, I am my best self.
